California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger on Friday signed into law a bill (AB 510) to expand the application of the state's feed-in tariff for customer-sited renewable power generation facilities. The law expands from 2.5% to 5% the limits on the amount of a utility's peak-demand load that can be satisfied by customer-generated solar and wind under state-sanctioned net metering provisions (see Power Market Today, Feb. 22).( more )

The Northwest Power and Conservation Council (NPPC) added support data to its Sixth Power Report Tuesday. The document estimates that 85% of the region's future electricity demand can be satisfied by energy efficiency programs.
